Before I became a professional wedding officiant, I thought, “What a cool job, you just have to work 20 minutes on a Saturday!” It didn’t take me long to realize that’s not the kind of wedding officiant I was going to be.Read More
Maia and Jake picked one of my favorite coastal Maine wedding venues for their nuptials: Live Well Farm in Harpswell, Maine. Have you seen it? It's #somaine meaning it's human scale, totally charming, loaded with character, and cozy and elegant all at once. And, BONUS, it's less than 1/2 hour from my home in Bath. All good things.

Where do we even start!?! If you haven't contacted Maria to officiate your wedding day please do yourself a favor and reach out to her NOW! You will not regret it! From the first FaceTime chat with Maria to the day of our ceremony (16 days later) Maria gave us the tools to help her create the most beautiful and personal elopement ceremony. Her warmth, joy, excitement, love for her job and love for standing with couples as they state their vows to one another is infectious. Her attitude made us more excited to plan our perfect day! Maria is so laid back and SO much fun to be around! She didn't blink an eye when we informed her that we wanted her to create a personalized ceremony for us in just 16 short days. No, she was up and excited for the challenge! It was exactly what we were hoping our officiant would be and more! After the first time we talked, we felt she really got us and our relationship and because of this we decided for her to surprise us by not sending our marriage address to us to review before our elopement. This ended up being our favorite part of the ceremony! Maria, thank you again for everything. We cannot stop reliving the entire day (especially the ceremony)! Thank you for being such a HUGE part of It, we couldn't imagine becoming husband and wife without you and your support. The ceremony was more amazing and perfect than we could ever imagine!

Maria Northcott is, in a word, amazing. My daughter and son-in-law were fortunate to have Maria officiate their destination wedding this summer. Throughout the entire planning process and wedding weekend Maria was intuitive to their wishes. Meeting in person for the first time at the rehearsal, Maria was enthusiastic, organized and efficient. She instantly put the bridal party and family members at ease. Maria understood the vision of the wedding they wanted and performed a ceremony so personal and from their hearts that it seemed she had known them for years. I sincerely appreciate Maria for making this special day even more memorable.

i'm on a bit of a break from weddings until august, so i thought i'd drop in with a quick "things i'm loving" post. i'd love to know what you're loving at the moment.

this drink - i am serioulsy addicted, i have one every day after lunch
this snack - i'm not 100% convinced it's real but if it were...

if you're on facebook you might have recently seen how they gave you a "see your 2012 year in review." well i've decided to give you a "see a sweet start's 2012 in review." i've had the most amazing year. it was my first full year of performing weddings and i can't say enough how i feel like i've found my calling. i feel so lucky to have found something that is so rewarding. i want to give a huge shout out to all my clients and say hello to some new ones who'll i'll be working with next year!
here are some of my favorite moments from 2012.
thank you for helping make the wedding incredibly special and memorable. so many people have complimented us on the ceremony and its thoughtfulness. you helped us shape every piece of the ceremony - even suggesting the song that rick's niece sang (which was perfect for her and us)! you also helped rick and me, as well as everyone else in the ceremony, feel present and to feel the love of those witnessing and supporting our commitment. we are still basking in the glory of the wedding and recounting every moment. what great memories and what a great way to start our marriage. so glad we found you!

Here's a very clever marriage proposal from a NY Times technology writer. This is one of many clever proposals, which is the new trend. How did your mate propose to you?
