As some of you may know, I founded the Maine Wedding Network and produced my first wedding vendor networking event back in 2013. For those of you who don’t know, as the Maine Wedding Network I gather wedding professionals working here in Maine together for networking, workshops, discussion groups and social events in the “off-season” (November to April). Why?
The Mission
The mission of the Maine Wedding Network is to encourage and nurture real and lasting relationships between wedding pros to help them grow their business by building a network of referral sources and to establish trust and love between vendors for the ultimate benefit of the wedding clients getting married in Maine.
Working for YOU!
So, you might be wondering, “Ok, cool, so why does this matter to me?” Well, let me explain it to you:
Producing a wedding is like building an entire home in one day! Imagine the coordination and attention to detail that must go into a project of this size. Every single subcontractor has to do their job at precisely the right moment in order for all the other subcontractors to be able to do their job. They’re all working together for a common purpose: to build the most beautiful home for their clients.
“Producing a wedding is like building an entire home in one day!”
That’s exactly how it is at a wedding. Each professional has to know exactly what to do at precisely the right moment in order for the wedding to go off without a hitch. There must be a fluid line of communication between all of your vendors so that they know when one job is finished and the next one begins. In my opinion, in order to facilitate this seamless communication, a level of trust must exist between the vendors. Now, a wedding can happen without this trust, but if it’s there the wedding can be absolutely spectacular! I know this because I’ve worked at weddings where the vendors are all collaborating together to create the best possible experience for you and your guests.
So, how does this trust get built? I’ll tell you! It’s gets created and nourished by spending time together in the off-season. It gets supported and strengthened by getting to know each other and understanding one another. It happens during discussions around the woodstove at my home. It gets built by working together during the summer and then recollecting about those wonderful weddings in the winter.
THIS is why I produce the Maine Wedding Network events. My goal is to bring wedding pros together to truly get to know each other, so that ultimately the strength of their relationship/friendship will benefit YOU, our wedding clients! Make sense?
